This recipe is about one of our favourite dishes. Moussaka is one of the traditional recipes we grew up with. This is a comfort food, made with simple ingredients for the family table gathering. Try it with both sauce recipes found through the following links:

Greek yogurt sauce and Mornay sauce made especially for this dish !

Our Ingredients for Moussaka are:
(Quantities are for 3 people and we use a Pyrex oven dish)

250gr (0.55lb or about 9oz) of minced veal meat
1/2 onion (or 1 small)
1 pinch of cinnamon
1 pinch of pimento
1 cup of tomato juice (no salt added)
1 espresso spoon sugar (or 1/3 tsp)
Salt & Pepper
Water

TIPS !

Cut the eggplants (aubergines) in about 1,5cm or 0.8 inch thick slices
Cut the potatoes in about 1cm or 0.4 inch thick slices
Dilute salt in a bowl of water and put the eggplant slices in it for about 20′, allowing them to debitter.
