TURKISH POACHED EGGS WITH YOGURT – Çılbır Recipe
In this episode I’d like to show you how to make ‘CILBIR’. (Chill-ber)
CILBIR is a Turkish dish of poached eggs, yogurt-garlic and butter sauce mix. This stunning dish is so easy and quick to make! The recipe is for one serving, so I recommend to use a large pan if you cook 4 or more eggs.
1/2 cup plain yogurt (at room temp)
1 tbsp vinegar
1 big clove garlic (optional)
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp sweet red pepper flakes
Fill a pot with water and bring to a boil over medium high heat.
Meanwhile, crush 1 clove of garlic (if desired) and combine with yogurt.
Add a pinch of salt, mix and set aside.
When water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to the lowest possible setting.
Add a pinch of salt, 1 tbsp vinegar and stir.
Crack 1 egg at a time into a bowl and slide egg slowly into water.
And simmer for 4 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt the butter in another pot.
Add 1 tsp red sweet pepper flakes and cook for 10-15 seconds over medium low heat stirring constantly.
Using slotted spoon, drain and transfer eggs to the serving plate then pour the yogurt over top.
Drizzle the butter sauce over the yogurt.
Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper to taste and serve immediately.
